INTER-DISTRICT FINALS MATCHES THIS WEEKEND

🐔Saturday 27th August – INTERDISTRICT FINALS

⚽️10:30am – 14A – Gregory Park, West Wallsend
LMCFC Blue (2nd) v Nelson Bay (3rd)
Last week our 14 Blue side performed well but went down to our 14 Gold team in the major semi-final. The 14 Blues will take some confidence from this game as they played strongly and kept the Gold team scoreless in the second half. Their opponents in the final are Nelson Bay who defeated New Lambton 2-0 in the minor semi final. The 14 Blues team have won both contests against Nelson Bay this year – a 4-1 convincing win at Nelson Bay back in round 7 was followed just two weeks later by a 2-1 win at Macquarie Field on a Tuesday night. Lets hope the trend continues with a win on Saturday which will put them into an all Lakes grand final clash against the 14 Gold team in a weeks time at Warners Bay.

⚽️10:30am – 15A – Bowthorne Park, Wallalong

LMCFC (2nd) v Cooks Hill (4th)
Our 15A side take on 4th place Cooks Hill in their final following a heart breaking 2-1 loss to minor premiers Broadmeadow magic in extra time last weekend. Cooks Hill upset the third placed Lambton Jaffas 2-1 in the minor semi final to setup what should be a competitive game against two evenly matched sides. Cooks Hill have won both games against our 15A’s this season but the last game only three weeks ago was a tight 1-0 win to Cooks Hill. Good luck to our 15A’s as they search for another grand final appearance.

NEWFM GRAND FINALS

🐔Sunday 28th August – NewFM First Division GRAND FINALS

⚽️9am – Under 17s – LMCFC (1st) v West
Wallsend (2nd)

The best two Under 17s sides all season
deservedly clash in the grand final. LMCFC won 2-0 on aggregate in their semi final against Kahibah while West Wallsend won a whopping 8-0 on aggregate against Wallsend in their semi finals. Lakes have had two wins in the regular season this year (both games won 3-1) against West Wallsend, however they were both tough encounters and Westy scored first in both these games. These two teams have conceded on average less than a goal a game throughout the year, but have also scored in excess of 50 goals each for the season so expect a quality game.

⚽️1pm Under 23s – LMCFC (1st) v South Cardiff (3rd)

Our 23s team won their semi final 4-1 on aggregate against Belswans and looked good in dismantling Belswans 3-0 last weekend at Macquarie Field. South Cardff though were also convincing winning 6-0 on aggregate against Cooks Hill. In the regular season, a 1-1 draw at Ulinga oval was followed by a 4-3 loss to Southy at Macquarie Field in the last regular season game. Grand finals are different to regular season matches though and the players all know what is required as most of the players played in the grand finals last year in either the 23s or 19s.
